Every kid has a dream, and in this case, the dream of being in a band and jammin with friends (preferably!) and then getting up on that stage to play to lots and lots of people...Sounds easy don't it, but it aint...nothing is unfortunately..gosh darn it!

Anyways, this is the story of how The 16 Bit Consoles came about through the eyes of the one we call Nik...

Just to remind you, even though Nik is now a rock star, he doesn't really come from a family of rockers which is a good thing if you know what I mean...his dad can play guitar but only does covers...respect though!

Okay...So, since the age of about 16,17 years old, Nik had tried his best to form or join a band...his 1st band was FRG(Blur's Song 2 is all they could play, had no drums, and nobody could play bass!),

...then he joined as bassist for SOUL SERENE(the songs kicked arse, but Nik didn't meet their requirements!Sob, sob)

...then he joined as bassist no2 and back up vocals for his brother's punk covers band, DISOWNED, and they did one successful gig together...then they split up for personal reasons...

Nik had already started writing songs at Sixth form, and tried em' out in his room, but because of the lack of confidence, and crap lyrics, he didnt get anywhere with them...

Rolling on to University, he had a couple of jams with people...then in 2000, he starts writing proper songs, and his mates digged them...

One night, he came across an advert which said something like "Lead guitarist, can do most styles"...sounded good, so he went to go and meet this guy and have a jam...didn't work out, but they kept in touch for a while then they lost contact...The guys name...Ali( one look at him, and you can tell he's a natural rockstar!)

Rollin' on to February 03, Nik bumps into Ali at a Beatrimes gig at a latin bar called Havana's( Nik has been a die hard fan of them ever since they started, whenever that was!), and Ali mentions that he wants to start up a band, be the frontman, and maybe play a little guitar...

So, between then and June, Nik was still trying to form a band when he met Ry outside halls waiting for the fire alarm to get turned off! Ali, Ry and Nik started jamming and showing each other songs... then California Love, This Evil City and Do Me Good became the first songs for the band

...Laters, Jim (an old hallsmate of Nik's)joins for a while to play bass, then Will( a hallsmate of Ali's), a professional drummer joins, but too busy with the Big Band thing...

Ali finds The Lodge, free to use and much easier to practice

...Ryan( a chilled out surfer from South Africa) replaces Will on drums...he also used to be in an acoustic band called What Seahorse....

Nik meets Clive, who used to be bass player for Woodchuck(a rocker he had briefly met in 2000) at The Hellacopters gig at Wedgewood Rooms...Clive joins as dedicated bassist...and they all have lovely jam sessions at The Lodge!

Then one night at a club, a random band name is decided, and The 16 Bit Consoles are born and ready to rock and roll to us all!

Today, they're recording and playing gigs at small venues in Portsmouth...

Tomorrow, we will just have to wait and see!
